WELCOME
This website is almost entirely maintained by my fourth grade students. I have found that my students are more motivated to write and are more likely to pay attention to their grammar and notice their typing errors when they know that people are reading their work. Please pardon any typing errors or grammar errors because they are still young students and are very eager to learn. We hope you enjoy perusing our website and check back weekly to keep stay informed about what is happening in our classroom!

Contact me: You may contact me by emailing me at [email protected]. I used to have a form linked on this website, but it never forwarded the emails to my school account. Our school uses a very sensitive email screening software and sometimes it blocks emails. If you don't hear back from me within twenty-four hours that means I never received your message at that point you really need to please call me at 591-1280
Cell Phones: Our School Policy
If you require your child to bring a cell phone to school, it must remain in their backpack and turned off during school time. This past week we’ve had several incidents with students carrying cell phones or leaving them on. Active cell phones during school hours cause distractions to learning and class time activities. If this rule is broken, our school policy is to confiscate the cell phone, turn it into the office and have the child’s parent come and pick up
the phone. Thank you for your help with this matter!

Social StudiesIn social studies, we use a curriculum developed by Oakland Intermediate School District. The website is www.micitizeshipcurriculum.org. If your your child is absent from school you may go to this website to see what your child missed. We do use a lot of maps and have lots of discussions in class so often it is very difficult to make up what has been missed in class. The Social Studies textbook that we have will be used more as a reference resource to reinforce concepts that are taught using the Oakland developed Social Studies curriculm.

ANGRY VERBS!!!!!!!
OH!!!! I had to share this cute writing project. This was a super cute writing activity. One of our 3rd grade teachers had her students use strong verbs with a story theme centered around Angry Birds. The students were given printed lined paper that had a black wooden fence border and a piece of brown construction paper to glue to the back of the lined paper to create the "brown crate/box". Instead of Angry Birds the students had to use strong verbs and it became a focus on Angry Verbs! The students had to write their stories and use a colorful highlighter to highlight their strong verbs before they received construction paper to create their pig or bird. The stories were so cute. One student wrote about a mother angry bird having to protect her nest so that's why she was angry. I'll take a picture of one of the written stories and post later. My fourth graders were so jealous! (Sigh) I have to come up with a current theme! Hopefully my brain can get some creative juices flowing while on spring break next week : )
